Ingredients
Instructions
- 1
In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
In the bowl of your mixer, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Give it a little mix with the paddle attachment.
- 3
Once the yeast mixture is frothy, pour it into the flour mixture along with the olive oil.
- 4
Switch to the dough hook and mix on low speed until a shaggy dough forms.
- 5
Increase the speed to medium and continue to knead the dough for about 5 minutes, or until it is smooth and elastic.
- 6
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1-1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
- 7
Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball.
- 8
On a floured surface, roll each dough ball into an oval or circle, about 1/4 inch thick.
- 9
Sprinkle minced garlic over each rolled naan. If you like, you can also sprinkle chopped herbs at this point. Gently press the garlic into the dough.
- 10
Heat a skillet or tava over medium-high heat. When hot, place one naan on the skillet.
- 11
Cook for about 1-2 minutes, or until bubbles form on the surface. Flip and cook the other side for another 1-2 minutes.
- 12
Remove from heat, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle with chopped cilantro or parsley if desired.
- 13
Repeat with the remaining pieces of dough.
