Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- 2
In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, applesauce, Greek yogurt, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix well until smooth.
- 3
In another bowl, whisk together the baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and whole wheat flour.
- 4
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, folding until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- 5
Gently fold in the dark chocolate chips and, if using, the nuts.
- 6
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- 7
Bake for about 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- 8
Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
There's something magical about the comforting aroma of banana bread baking in the oven, and this version keeps the joy while being a little lighter. The dark chocolate chips add just the right amount of indulgence, making every bite a treat!
