Soft, fluffy, and irresistibly buttery, these Classic Dinner Rolls will have everyone reaching for seconds.
Ingredients:
- 4 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
- 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast (1 packet)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup whole milk (warm)
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter (melted, plus extra for brushing)
- 2 large eggs (lightly beaten)
Cooking Instructions:
-
Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm milk (around 110°F) with the sugar and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
-
Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Make a well in the center, then add the melted butter, the yeast mixture, and the beaten eggs.
-
Knead the Dough: Mix until a shaggy dough forms, then transfer to a floured surface. Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. If it’s too sticky, sprinkle a little more flour as needed.
-
First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
-
Shape Rolls: Once risen, punch down the dough to release the air. Divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a smooth ball by tucking the edges underneath.
-
Second Rise: Place the balls close together in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Cover and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes until they've puffed up.
-
Preheat Oven: While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
Bake: Once the rolls have risen, brush them with melted butter and bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
-
Finishing Touch: Remove from the oven and brush with extra melted butter for that luxurious finish. Let them cool slightly before serving.
Flavor Profile:
These classic dinner rolls are wonderfully light, airy, and have a slight sweetness complemented by the rich, buttery flavor. Ideal for soaking up gravies or pairing with salads, they make for an irresistible addition to any meal!
