Backstory: You fixed a bug and now you celebrate with meat, mayhem, and malarkey. This burger is a tribute to Nosif: code cleaner by day, bun crusher by night. It’s loud, greasy, and built like a bug zapper — it will squash errors and feed your gains.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef, 80/20 for maximum juiciness
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for pan)
- 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese (or American for meltdown supremacy)
- 4 hamburger buns, toasted and buttered
- 4 slices bacon, cooked until crisp
- 1 large dill pickle, sliced into rounds
- 1 small red onion, thinly sliced into rings
- 1 ripe avocado, sliced
- 4 tbsp spicy mayo (mix 3 tbsp mayo + 1 tbsp Sriracha; adjust heat)
- 2 tbsp BBQ sauce (sweet & smoky)
- 1/4 cup crispy fried onions (store-bought or homemade)
- Optional playful garnish: a tiny plastic fly (for comedy), or a printed “BUG BUSTER” flag on a toothpick
Instructions:
-
Season and shape:
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, Worcestershire, and Dijon. Gently mix — do not overwork. Form into four equally sized patties, slightly larger than buns. Make a shallow dimple in the center of each patty (prevents bulging).
-
Preheat:
- Heat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and add olive oil. Get it hot — like you debugging at 3 AM hot.
-
Sear and melt:
- Place patties in the pan; sear 3–4 minutes per side for medium (adjust to preferred doneness). Flip once. One minute before done, place a slice of cheddar on each patty and cover pan to melt cheese into a glorious molten blanket.
-
Toast buns:
- Butter the buns lightly and toast cut-side down in a separate pan or under broiler until golden.
-
Assemble the bug-busting stack:
- Spread 1 tbsp spicy mayo on the bottom bun.
- Place the cheesy beef patty on top.
- Drizzle 1/2 tbsp BBQ sauce over the cheese.
- Add a slice of crispy bacon, two pickle rounds, a few red onion rings, and a couple slices of avocado.
- Sprinkle a generous pinch of crispy fried onions for crunch.
