There's something nostalgic about Beefaroni that takes us back to childhood. This quick version, enhanced by sweet basil marinara, keeps all the comfort we love but with a delightful twist.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups elbow macaroni (or pasta of your choice)
- 1 jar (about 24 oz) sweet basil marinara
- 1 cup beef broth (or water)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a kick)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)
- Fresh basil leaves (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
-
Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook the elbow macaroni according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
-
Brown the Beef: In a large skillet or pot over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
-
Add Aromatics: To the beef, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
-
Combine Ingredients: Stir in the sweet basil marinara and beef broth. Toss in the cooked macaroni, mixing well. Season with salt, pepper, oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using).
-
Simmer: Allow the mixture to simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. This lets the flavors meld beautifully.
-
Serve: Spoon the Beefaroni into bowls and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil if desired.
Flavor Profile
This dish offers a delightful heartiness from the ground beef, paired with the sweet and aromatic flavors of the basil sauce. The seasoning will create a comforting, savory profile, making it a perfect meal for any occasion.
