Healthy Sarku Teriyaki Sauce

Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp of low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp of honey
- 1 ½ tsp of Mirin
- 1 ½ tsp of rice vinegar
- 1 clove of garlic, minced
- ½ tsp of grated fresh ginger
- 1 Tbsp of cornstarch
- 2 Tbsp of water
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, Mirin, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, mix the cornstarch and water until smooth, and then add it to the soy sauce mixture.
- Whisk until the cornstarch is dissolved and there are no lumps in the mixture.
- Place the sauce in a small saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until it thickens to the desired consistency, about 5-8 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let cool.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.
This recipe cuts down on the amount of sodium by using low-sodium soy sauce and reduces calories by replacing sugar with honey. The addition of fresh garlic and ginger adds great flavor without additional sodium. Give it a try and enjoy a healthier version of Sarku Teriyaki sauce!
