Here’s your recipe:
Cajun Butter Garlic Salmon Pasta
This dish is a delightful marriage between the zesty kick of Cajun spices and the richness of buttery garlic. It’s a quick dish that makes for an impressive meal!
Ingredients
- 1 salmon fillet
- 200g penne rigate (or enough for one serving)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
-
Cook the Pasta:
- In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the penne rigate and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving a bit of the pasta water.
-
Prepare the Salmon:
- While the pasta is cooking, season the salmon fillet on both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Cajun seasoning.
-
Sear the Salmon:
- In a skillet over medium-high heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Once melted and bubbling, add the salmon fillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of the fillet, or until the salmon is fully cooked and flakes easily with a fork. Remove from the skillet and let it rest.
-
Make the Sauce:
- In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium. Add the remaining tablespoon of butter and let it melt. Stir in any leftover seasoning from the salmon, then toss the cooked penne rigate in, adding a bit of the reserved pasta water to help create a light sauce. Mix well to coat the pasta.
-
Assemble the Dish:
- Flake the cooked salmon and gently fold it into the pasta. Adjust the seasoning with more salt, pepper, or Cajun spice if desired.
-
Serve:
- Plate your pasta, and if you like, top it with freshly chopped parsley for a fresh touch!
