Saintly Twin Cities Hot Dog

A tribute to the St. Paul Saints minor league baseball team.
Ingredients
- 4 hot dog buns
- 4 beef or pork hot dogs
- 1 cup sauerkraut
- 1/2 cup diced onions
- 1/4 cup yellow mustard
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Cooking Instructions
- Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan to medium-high heat.
- In a small skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the diced onions and sauté until golden brown and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Set aside.
- Grill the hot dogs on the preheated grill or grill pan until they are heated through and have grill marks, about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally.
- While the hot dogs are grilling, lightly toast the hot dog buns on the grill or in a toaster.
- Place each grilled hot dog into a bun. Spread a thin line of mustard and ketchup along the top of each hot dog.
- Top each hot dog with sauerkraut and caramelized onions.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
