Taco BellStyle Cinnabon Delights

Ingredients:
For the dough:
- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- ½ cup whole milk
- 1 large egg
- Vegetable oil, for frying
For the cinnamon-sugar coating:
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
For the cream filling:
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Cooking Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, milk, and egg.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for 10 minutes.
- While the dough is resting, prepare the cream filling by combining the softened cream cheese, softened butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy. Transfer the mixture into a piping bag.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or skillet to 350°F (175°C).
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to a ¼ inch thickness. Use a round cookie cutter or a small glass to cut out circles of dough.
- Take each dough circle and place a small dollop of the cream filling in the middle. Fold the dough over the filling, and pinch the edges to seal. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.
- Carefully add the filled dough balls to the hot oil, frying them in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove with a slotted spoon and transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon for the coating.
- While the delights are still warm, roll each one in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until evenly coated.
