This delightful treat combines the sweetness of red delicious apples with the warm embrace of cinnamon, all wrapped in flaky puff pastry. The luscious caramel cream sauce adds a rich, decadent finishing touch you'll adore.
Ingredients:
- 2 red delicious apples
- 1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons sugar (adjust based on sweetness preference)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (to prevent apples from browning)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup granulated sugar (for caramel)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
Cooking Instructions:
-
Prepare the Apples:
- Core and slice the red delicious apples thinly (about 1/8 inch thick).
- Place the apple slices in a bowl, toss with lemon juice, ground cinnamon, and sugar. Let them sit for about 10 minutes.
-
Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
Roll Out the Dough:
- Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the puff pastry sheet into a larger rectangle, about 1/8 inch thick. Cut it into strips about 1.5 inches wide.
-
Assemble the Roses:
- Take a strip of puff pastry and place overlapping apple slices along one edge of the strip.
- Fold the lower part of the pastry over the apples and roll it up gently to form a rose shape.
- Place the rose in a muffin tin to hold its shape.
-
Bake:
- Repeat the process with the remaining pastry and apple slices.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and puffed.
-
Make the Caramel Cream Sauce:
- In a saucepan, heat the granulated sugar over medium heat until it melts and turns amber in color—watch it closely to prevent burning.
- Once melted, carefully stir in the butter and then slowly add the heavy cream (it may bubble up). Stir continuously until smooth.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Allow it to cool slightly.
-
Serve:
- Drizzle the warm caramel cream sauce generously over the baked apple roses before serving.
