This dish is a love letter to the classic flavors of Asian cuisine, with tender beef slices and vibrant broccoli coming together in a savory sauce. It’s simple yet satisfying, and you’ll find it perfect for a cozy dinner!
Ingredients
- 1 pound (450g) beef flank steak, sliced thinly against the grain
- 4 cups broccoli florets
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for cooking)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1/4 cup beef broth or water
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional: sesame seeds for garnish
Cooking Instructions
- In a bowl, combine sliced beef, soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Heat a large pan or wok over medium-high heat and add vegetable oil.
- Once the oil is hot, add minced garlic and grated ginger, stirring quickly so they don’t burn.
- Add the marinated beef to the pan and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes, or until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes, adding the beef broth or water to steam the broccoli until tender but still crisp.
- Return the beef to the pan and mix everything together. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot, topped with optional sesame seeds if desired.
Flavor Profile
This stir fry balances a savory umami punch from the soy and oyster sauce with the freshness of broccolini, creating a dish that's hearty yet light. The added garlic and ginger give it a warm, aromatic foundation, making each bite a delight!
