Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (for a bit of kick, optional)
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (like pecans or walnuts, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and shredded cheddar cheese until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter and cheese mixture, mixing until a dough forms. If you're using chopped nuts, fold them in at this point.
- Shape the dough into small balls (about a tablespoon size) and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving some space between each cookie to allow for spreading.
- Flatten each ball slightly with a fork.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
- Allow to cool on a wire rack before enjoying!
