Creamy Stovetop Mac and Cheese

Ingredients:
- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Cook macaroni according to the directions on the package. Drain and set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk until smooth.
- Gradually add the milk, whisking constantly, until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
- Add the cheese to the sauce and stir until it has melted and sauce is smooth.
- Add the cooked macaroni to the sauce and toss gently to coat.
- Add salt and pepper to taste and serve immediately.
