Creamy Stovetop Mac and Cheese Recipe

Ingredients
- 1 pound elbow macaroni
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 tablespoons flour
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook elbow macaroni in a pot of boiling salted water according to the package instructions until al dente.
- In a separate large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
- Stir in flour until well combined to form a paste.
- Gradually whisk in milk until there are no lumps. Simmer, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens, for about 5 minutes.
- Add shredded cheddar cheese, salt and pepper and stir until the cheese has melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Once the elbow macaroni is cooked, drain it and immediately add it to the cheese sauce.
- Stir until the macaroni is evenly coated with the sauce.
- Serve hot and enjoy your homemade stovetop mac and cheese!
