Backstory:
These Beef and Cabbage Egg Rolls are a fusion of savory ground beef, sweet onions, and crispy cabbage, all wrapped up in a crunchy egg roll wrapper. Perfect for a tasty appetizer or a satisfying snack!
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cups shredded cabbage
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 12 egg roll wrappers
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until cooked through. Add the diced onions and cook until translucent.
- Stir in the shredded cabbage, garlic powder, ground ginger, soy sauce, oyster sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook for a few more minutes until the cabbage is slightly wilted. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Place a spoonful of the beef and cabbage mixture onto the center of an egg roll wrapper. Fold the sides of the wrapper over the filling, then roll it up tightly, sealing the edges with a bit of water.
- In a deep fryer or large pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (180°C). Fry the egg rolls in batches for about 3-4 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the egg rolls from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve the crispy Beef and Cabbage Egg Rolls hot with your favorite dipping sauce like sweet and sour or spicy mustard.
Flavor Profile:
These Beef and Cabbage Egg Rolls have a savory and umami flavor profile with a hint of sweetness from the onions and cabbage. The deep-frying technique creates a crispy texture that complements the tender beef filling perfectly.
