Ingredients:
- 1 block of frozen silken tofu
- 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup of cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of smoked paprika
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
- Remove the frozen silken tofu from the freezer and thaw it in the refrigerator for at least 12 hours.
- Once the tofu is thawed, drain the excess water and press the tofu between two paper towels to remove as much moisture as possible.
- Cut the tofu into small pieces, about 1 inch in size.
- In a shallow bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Coat the tofu pieces in the flour mixture, making sure to cover them completely.
- Heat about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the coated tofu pieces to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry the tofu for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the tofu nuggets from the pan with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel to drain any excess oil.
- Serve the tofu nuggets hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
Flavor profile:
These tofu nuggets are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a smoky undertone from the paprika. You can adjust the seasoning to suit your tastes, adding more or less paprika, garlic powder, or salt as needed.
