Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh or canned crushed tomatoes (or tomato passata)
- 1/2 cup fresh figs, chopped (or dried figs, chopped and rehydrated)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano (or 1 tablespoon fresh oregano, chopped)
- 1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried basil)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar (optional, for extra depth)
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
Cooking Instructions

Sauté the Garlic:
- In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

Add Tomatoes and Figs:
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes and chopped figs. Mix well to combine.

- Add the oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and balsamic vinegar (if using). If you like a bit of heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes as well.
