Homemade Pizza Dough

This dough is the foundation of a fantastic pizza, boasting a crispy crust that’s perfect for holding all those gooey cheeses!
Ingredients for Pizza Dough
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast or instant yeast
- 3/4 cup warm water (about 110°F/43°C)
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Directions for Kneading

Activate the Yeast:
- In a bowl, mix the warm water and sugar, then sprinkle the yeast on top. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, until it becomes frothy and bubbly.

Mix the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
- Make a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.

- Stir the mixture with a spoon or your hands until it begins to clump together.

Knead the Dough:
- Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface.
- Knead the dough by pushing it down and away from you with the heel of your hand. Then fold it back over itself and turn it a quarter turn. Repeat this process for about 8-10 minutes. The dough should become smooth and elastic.

- Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
