Get ready for a scrumptious medley of tender pork belly and juicy chicken thighs, both infused with the delectable flavors of char siu sauce!
Ingredients
- 1 lb pork belly, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 chicken thigh, skin-on and bone-in (or boneless, if preferred)
- 1/4 cup char siu sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
- 1 teaspoon five spice powder
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 teaspoon garlic powder)
- 1/2 teaspoon cracked black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper (optional, for a spicy kick)
- Salt, to taste
- Chopped green onions or sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
Cooking Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the char siu sauce, soy sauce, honey, red wine vinegar, five spice powder, minced garlic, black pepper, and crushed red pepper. Stir until well mixed.
- Add the pork belly pieces and the chicken thigh to the marinade, ensuring everything is well-coated. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes (or up to overnight in the fridge for deeper flavor).
- Generously grease your square glass baking dish with a little oil or non-stick spray. Arrange the marinated pork belly and chicken thigh in a single layer in the dish.
- Roast in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the pork belly is golden brown and crispy on the edges and the chicken is cooked through (reaching an internal temperature of 165°F or 74°C). Flip them halfway through for even cooking.
- Once cooked, remove from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
- Garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds, if desired, and enjoy your marvelous bites!
