This method is ideal for when you're short on time but still want to enjoy that tender, pulled ham experience, with a sweet and flavorful glaze!
Ingredients
- 2.1 kg bone-in ham
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup whiskey (bourbon works well)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 160°C (320°F).
- In a bowl, mix together the brown sugar, whiskey, melted butter, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern to help the glaze infuse.
- Place the ham in a roasting pan and pour the whiskey glaze over it, ensuring the glaze gets into the scored sections.
- Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil and roast it in the oven for about 3 hours, basting with the glaze every 30 minutes.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 68°C (155°F). If it's not there yet, you can continue cooking uncovered for an additional 15-30 minutes to help caramelize the glaze.
- Once done, remove the ham from the oven, let it rest for 10-15 minutes, then shred the ham into pulled pieces, incorporating any leftover glaze.
- Serve warm, perfect for sandwiches or alongside your favorite tasty sides!
Flavor Profile
