Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce (adjust to your spice preference)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust for spice)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
Cooking Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the buttermilk and hot sauce. Add the chicken pieces and marinate for at least 30 minutes (or up to overnight in the refrigerator).
- In a separate bowl, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan or pot over medium-high heat (about 350°F).
- Remove the chicken from the buttermilk mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the seasoned flour mixture until fully coated.
- Carefully place the coated chicken pieces in the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid crowding. Fry for about 4-6 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove the chicken and drain on a paper towel-lined plate. Sprinkle with a little more salt if desired.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce!
