This marinade is packed with flavor and sweetness, making your chicken tender and delicious. It’s perfect for grilling or baking, and it pairs beautifully with your cornbread!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce (choose your favorite brand or homemade)
- 1/4 cup honey or brown sugar (for extra sweetness)
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar or lemon juice (for tang)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (or gluten-free alternative)
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (for that smoky flavor)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the barbecue sauce, honey (or brown sugar), apple cider vinegar (or lemon juice), Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Whisk until well blended.
- Place your chicken (breasts, thighs, or drumsticks) in a large resealable bag or a bowl, and pour the marinade over the chicken.
- Seal the bag or cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or up to 8 hours) to let the flavors meld.
- When you're ready to cook, remove the chicken from the marinade, letting any excess drip off. Grill or bake until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 75°C).
Flavor Profile
This marinade brings a sweet and tangy flavor with hints of smokiness, perfectly enhancing the natural taste of the chicken. The sweetness complements the savory cornbread beautifully!
