Truffle Mac and Cheese Recipe

Ingredients
- 1 pound elbow macaroni
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 quart whole milk, lukewarm
- 1/2 cup whipping cream
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 cup white truffle oil
- 2 cups Gruyere cheese, grated
- 1 cup Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, grated
- 1/4 cup truffle-infused Panko breadcrumbs
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions, and set it aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium-high heat.
- Add the flour and whisk until smooth.
- Gradually add the lukewarm milk and whisk constantly for about 5-7 minutes or until the mixture thickens and forms a smooth sauce.
- Add the garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, dried thyme, and truffle oil and whisk to combine.
- Add the Gruyere cheese and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese to the sauce and stir until fully melted and incorporated into the sauce.
- Add the whipping cream and continue stirring until the sauce is well blended.
- Add the cooked macaroni to the saucepan and stir until the macaroni is well coated with the sauce.
- Transfer the mac and cheese to a large baking dish and sprinkle the truffle-infused Panko breadcrumbs over the top.
- Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the breadcrumbs are golden brown and the mac and cheese is piping hot.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
