Ingredients:
- 4 slices of bread
- 2 tablespoons of dirt (chocolate cookie crumbs will work as a substitute)
- 1 cup of water
- 4 small apples, sliced
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Take the slices of bread and cut out volcano shapes using a knife or a cookie cutter.
- Place the volcano-shaped bread slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, mix the water with the dirt or chocolate cookie crumbs to create a thick, muddy consistency.
- Carefully pour the muddy mixture onto each volcano-shaped bread slice, making sure it flows down the sides like lava.
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 10 minutes or until the bread is toasted and the "lava" is set.
- While the volcanoes are baking, slice the apples into thin rounds.
- Once the volcanoes are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly.
- Serve the Volcano Toast with the apple slices on the side.
Flavor Profile:
The Volcano Toast will have a crunchy texture from the toasted bread, along with a sweet and chocolaty taste from the dirt or chocolate cookie crumbs lava. The apple slices will provide a refreshing and crisp contrast to the warm and playful volcano toast. It's a fun and interactive meal that kids will love!
