Crispy Chicken Gyoza

These homemade gyoza are filled with savory ground chicken and veggies, folded into delicate dumpling skins, and pan-fried for a crispy finish!
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1 cup cabbage, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup green onions, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 package gyoza (dumpling) wrappers
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- Water (for steaming)
For the Dipping Sauce:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon chili oil (optional, for heat)
Cooking Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground chicken, chopped cabbage, green onions, minced garlic, minced ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- Take one gyoza wrapper and place a small spoonful (about a teaspoon) of the filling in the center.
- Wet the edges of the wrapper with a little water, fold it in half to form a half-moon shape, and pinch the edges tightly to seal. You can create pleats along the edge for decorative flair if desired. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add about 1-2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Once hot, arrange gyoza in a single layer in the skillet.
- Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown. Then, carefully add 1/4 cup of water to the skillet and cover with a lid. Allow the gyoza to steam for about 5-7 minutes until cooked through.
- Once the water has evaporated and the gyoza are crispy, remove the lid and cook for an additional minute to crisp up the bottoms, if desired.
- Serve hot with the dipping sauce on the side.
