Once upon a sunny morning, my grandkids would wake up hungry, and I’d whip up a batch of French Toast. It’s quick, sweet, and just like a hug on a plate!
Ingredients
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, if you have it)
- Pinch of salt
- 4 slices of white bread
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh fruits for serving
Cooking Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract (if using), and pinch of salt until well combined.
- Heat a non-stick skillet or frying pan over medium heat and melt the butter, swirling it around to coat the pan evenly.
- Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side to absorb the liquid.
- Place the soaked bread slices onto the skillet once the butter is bubbling.
- Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and slightly crispy.
- Remove from the pan and serve immediately with maple syrup, powdered sugar, or your favorite fruits.
Flavor Profile
This French Toast is sweet and creamy with an inviting buttery flavor. The crispy exterior perfectly contrasts with the soft, custardy inside. It’s a comforting dish that brings warmth and joy to any breakfast table!
