This delightful tart is a wonderful way to celebrate the flavors of autumn. The sweet, honey-glazed apples are nestled in a buttery pastry, making it a perfect dessert for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 package (14 oz) refrigerated pie crust (or homemade if you prefer)
- 4 medium apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1/3 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon sugar (for sprinkling)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the pie crust and place it into a 9-inch tart pan. Trim any excess crust hanging over the edges. Prick the bottom gently with a fork.
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, honey, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using). Toss until the apples are well coated.
- Arrange the apple mixture in the crust, overlapping the slices for a beautiful presentation.
- Dot the top of the apples with small pieces of butter.
- In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush it over the crust. Then, sprinkle sugar on top for a lovely finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 35-40 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
