These delightful pastries are a nod to the cozy snacks enjoyed by witches and wizards alike during their adventures at Hogwarts. They’re perfect for a magical feast or a snack on the go!
Ingredients
- 2 cups pumpkin puree (canned or homemade)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp allspice
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 package refrigerated pie crusts (or homemade pie crust if you're feeling adventurous)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Optional: powdered sugar for dusting
Cooking Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Prepare the Filling: In a bowl, mix together the pumpkin puree, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice, and salt until well combined.
- Roll Out the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pie crusts. Use a circle cutter or a large cup to cut out circles (about 6 inches in diameter) from the dough.
- Fill the Pastries: Place a tablespoon of the pumpkin filling in the center of each dough circle. Be careful not to overfill them!
- Seal the Pasties: Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and crimp the edges with a fork to seal.
- Prepare for Baking: Place the filled pasties on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Beat the egg and brush the mixture over the top of each pasty to give them a golden color when baked.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Cool and Serve: Let them cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar, if desired. Serve warm!
Flavor Profile
These Pumpkin Pasties are sweet, warmly spiced, and perfectly flaky. The blend of spices brings a comforting warmth, reminiscent of autumn days at Hogwarts.
