This dish combines the beautiful flavors of ginger and garlic with tender tilapia and a colorful medley of vegetables. It’s easy to prepare and packed with flavor—perfect for a quick and satisfying meal!
Ingredients
- 2 tilapia fillets
- 2 tablespoons ginger, finely minced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to your spice level)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or any other oil of choice)
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1 cup bell peppers, sliced (any color)
- 1 cup snap peas
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil (for flavoring)
- Fresh cilantro or green onions for garnish (optional)
Cooking Instructions
- Pat the tilapia fillets dry with a paper towel and set aside.
- In a small bowl, mix together the minced ginger, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes. Rub this spicy mixture evenly on both sides of the tilapia fillets.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, gently lay the tilapia fillets in the pan and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and keep warm.
- In the same skillet, add a little more oil if needed. Toss in the broccoli, bell peppers, and snap peas, stir-frying for about 5-7 minutes until they are tender but still crisp.
- Add the rice vinegar and sesame oil to the vegetables and toss to coat evenly. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Serve the fried tilapia alongside the stir-fried vegetables. Garnish with fresh cilantro or green onions, if desired.
Flavor Profile
This dish is a symphony of flavors—spicy from the red pepper flakes and aromatic from the ginger and garlic, with a fresh crunch from the stir-fried vegetables. The rice vinegar adds a tangy note that balances the spiciness, while the sesame oil gives it that lovely nutty depth.
