Ingredients
- 1 cup winter langrin flour
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup warm water (about 110°F/43°C)
- 3 tablespoons violet syrup
- Olive oil, for brushing
Cooking Instructions
-
Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the winter langrin flour, all-purpose flour, instant yeast, and salt. Mix well to combine.
- In a separate bowl, mix the warm water with the violet syrup until well dissolved.
- Gradually pour the water mixture into the flour mixture while stirring. Combine until a dough starts to form.
-
Knead the Dough:
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead for about 8-10 minutes until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
- Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap.
-
Let the Dough Rise:
- Allow the dough to rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size, approximately 1 to 1.5 hours.
-
Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a baking stone or an upside-down baking sheet inside to heat.
-
Shape the Pitas:
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 4-6 equal pieces.
- Roll each piece into a ball, then flatten it into a disk about 1/4 inch thick.
-
Bake the Pitas:
- Carefully place the disks on the hot baking stone or baking sheet. Bake for about 5-7 minutes, or until they puff up and turn lightly golden.
-
Brush with Violet Syrup:
- Once out of the oven, brush the pitas lightly with more violet syrup to enhance their sweet, floral flavor.
-
Serve:
- Allow the pitas to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm, as a snack, or with your favorite dips and toppings.
