This Poha recipe without onion, garlic, mustard seeds, and green peas still captures the essence of this classic Indian dish. It's aromatic and flavorful, perfect for a cozy dinner.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of thick poha (flattened rice)
- 1 small tomato, finely chopped
- 1 small potato, peeled and diced
- 1 green chili, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
- Lemon wedges for serving
- 2 tablespoons of oil
Instructions:
- Rinse the poha in a colander under running water until it softens. Let it sit in the colander to drain excess water.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add chopped tomatoes and green chili. Saute until the tomatoes are soft.
- Add diced potatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix well and cook until the potatoes are tender.
- Add the drained poha to the pan and gently mix with the tomato-potato mixture. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with lemon wedges on the side.
